Our Programs
Preschool
Our Montessori preschool program for ages 2.5 to 6 years old offers a hands-on approach to learning. During our Montessori Time, your child will engage with core curriculum in a hands-on and child-directed way. During our Waldorf and Charlotte-Mason inspired Enrichment Time, your child will enjoy dedicated time for song, poetry, and literature as well as a daily manner of the week and stories encouraging positive habit formation. Each day, we will also do a daily group activity together such as bread making or painting with watercolors. We also spend time plenty of time outdoors in our forest and at play.
Our private kindergarten and first grade program for children ages 5-7 is integrated into our mixed aged preschool. However, since our school is all developmentally based, your child will receive exactly the work he/she needs to exceed traditional Virginia state standards as well as a nurturing foundation with plenty of time for play and art. We provide a child-centered, hands-on approach to learning that prepares children for a successful transition to elementary school. With a focus on social-emotional development, literacy, math, culture, and nature, we provide a solid foundation for your child's academic and personal growth.

At Highland Hills, we offer a balanced day. We offer art, music, movement, animal, Spanish, and nature learning which compliment our program.
